PHOTOCATALYTIC MATERIAL, METHOD OF DECOMPOSING ORGANIC SUBSTANCE, INTERIOR MEMBER, AIR CLEANER, AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING OXIDIZING AGENT

Titanium oxide is doped with metal ions so as to give a metal-ion-doped titanium oxide which has a valence band potential of 3 V (vs. SHE; pH=0) or higher and a band gap between the valence band and the potential of electrons excited from the valence band (including a conduction-band bottom potential and an isolated potential) of 3 V or lower.  A cupric salt and/or a ferric salt is then deposited on the surface of the metal-ion-doped titanium oxide. That the cupric salt or ferric salt functions as a catalyst for the multielectron reduction of oxygen can be utilized to make the metal-ion-doped titanium oxide exhibit high oxidative and decomposing activity when irradiated with visible light.
