摘要 |
A method for the manufacture of a photosensitising nano-material 40 is disclosed wherein a solid nanomaterial, such as zeolite, silica or a metal oxide, is added to an anhydrous aromatic solvent, such as toluene or chloronaphthalene, to form a suspension which is then saturated with a tetrapyrrole metal complex, such as a phthalocyanine. The suspension is heated and stirred under an inert atmosphere in the dark (which may allow covalent bonds to form between the particles and the tetrapyrrole complex). The resulting photosensitizing nanomaterial is filtered, washed and dried. Also disclosed is the use of the photosensitizing nanomaterial 40 for the photo-induced inactivation of a biological target. Also disclosed is a photosensitizing material wherein a tetrapyrrole metal complex 10 is attached by an axial covalent bond 60 to the surface 25 of a solid nanomaterial 20. The solid nanomaterial 20 may have at least one dimension in the nanometre and/or the micrometre range. |
