<p>Weight lifting apparatus comprising inertia reels 6 and safety belts 1 that are attached to the inertia reels at one end and the bar of the barbell 4 at the other, once a pre-determined weight has been exceeded, the inertia reels are locked, the free fall of the barbell will also activate a separate mechanical locking of the inertia reels 6, thereby securing the barbell in a safe hanging position when the user can no longer support the weight of the barbell. Deployment of the locking mechanism occurs by the connection of the reels 6 to a digit weighing scales (8, fig 3) and a control panel (7, fig 3). The inertia belts 1 and reels 6 are supported by an overhead support frame 2. Preferably the support structure has two hooks that will serve to as support stands for the barbell. The belts are secured to the barbell via a tubular bracket 5 that is attached to bar of the barbell.</p> |
