Insulating hollow body for a high voltage insulator

The hollow body (10) has a composite material (20) based on a polymer matrix, and a filler material embedded into the polymer matrix. A fiber insert (30) e.g. mat and self-supporting fiber body, is embedded into the composite material, and is guided around a hollow chamber that is defined by the hollow body and exposed to overpressure. The fiber insert acts as shatter protection above breaking strength of the composite material, where the hollow body has a hardened cycloaliphatic epoxy resin compound as polymer. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an insulating hollow body.
