[Also in Divisions B7 and F4] The space between inner and outer walls 311, 313 of a liquefied gas, e.g. helium dust, is occupied by a plurality of composite layers 315a of heat insulating material, e.g. glass fibre, and radiant heat barrier material, e.g. layers of aluminium or copper foil and embedded in at least one of the glass fibre layers is at least one layer 318 of thin flexible heat conductive and non-self-supporting material, e.g. aluminium, copper, silver or gold foil which is in thermal contact with a conduit 315 extending between the walls and through which passes heat absorbing fluid, e.g. vaporized helium which is discharged through a surrounding manifold 340. The conduit has inwardly projecting copper fins 25, Fig. 5 (not shown), and outwardly projecting metal discs to which the edges of the layers 318 are thermally connected. The composite layer 315a may comprise crumpled aluminium-coated polyethylene terephthalate film. |
