1,001,117. Electric selective signalling systems. REPUBLIC STEEL CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1963 [Sept. 28, 1962], No. 34191/63. Heading G4H. [Also in Divisions G1 and H3] The weight of an object, which may be moving, and which is placed on a weighing platform which consequently oscillates, is measured by integrating the displacement (Fig. 5) of the platform over a number of oscillations. For example the weight of a moving railway truck 3 (Fig. 1) is represented by the output voltage (Fig. 5) of a load cell 2 (Fig. 1) which controls the output pulse frequency of a converter 12, the required integral being obtained from the number of pulses counted (14) during the period 64 (Fig. 5) which starts with simultaneous closure of relays 9, 10 indicating that the truck is entirely as the platform, and terminates after a time preset by a register 39 (Fig. 3, not shown). The structure of the frequency converter may be as in Fig. 2 (not shown) and the period over which the weight signal pulses are counted is controlled by a timer circuit (Fig. 3, not shown).
