PURPOSE: A contrast controlling apparatus for a liquid crystal display is provided to control the brightness easily by controlling a driving voltage according to a surrounding temperature. CONSTITUTION: In a contrast controlling apparatus for a liquid crystal display, a temperature sensing unit(11) senses the temperature around the liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display module(10) is operated by a driving voltage. The liquid crystal display module controls the liquid crystal display. The controller(13) corresponds to the detection temperature from the temperature sensing unit. The controller controls the brightness of the liquid crystal display. A voltage variable region(12) varies the driving voltage. The driving voltage is difference between the operation voltage(Vo) and the positive supply voltage(Vdd).
