PURPOSE: A video encoding/decoding method and apparatus using an adaptive interpolation filter coefficient are provided to improve the compression efficiency or encoding efficiency by encoding an image through the determination of an adaptive interpolation filter coefficient. CONSTITUTION: A coefficient calculator(210) calculates an adaptive interpolation filter coefficient of a current frame, and an image encoder(220) interpolates a reference frame through the adaptive interpolation filter coefficient. The image encoder encodes a current frame through the interpolated reference frame. If a filter flag is a coefficient insertion flag, a bit stream generator(250) generates a bit stream.
