<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a patterned plated article, and to provide a substrate coating material used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: There is disclosed the substrate coating material for forming a patterned metal film on a base material by an electroless plating method. The substrate coating material includes: conductive or reducible polymer fine particles; a binder; and an inorganic filler, wherein the mass ratio between the conductive or reducible polymer fine particles and the binder lies in the range of 1:11 to 1:60, and the viscosity is≥50 cps.
