PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which in a development process of a lithium secondary battery, a complicate exothermic process of the battery that is an assembly of materials and the degree of effects and contribution of respective constituting materials affecting on it is evaluated, and by using a simple and easy evaluation method, heat stability of lithium secondary battery and its constituting materials is evaluated appropriately. SOLUTION: In the heat stability evaluation method of the lithium secondary battery and its constituting materials, in which positive electrode and negative electrode that store and release lithium ions are opposed via a separator and non-aqueous electrolytic solution is contained, the heat stability evaluation is carried out by thermal analysis of a test piece. The test piece submitted to the thermal analysis is the lithium secondary battery structural body in which the positive electrode for storing and releasing lithium ions and the negative electrode for storing and releasing lithium ions are opposed via the separator, and the non-aqueous electrolytic solution having lithium ion conductivity is contained, and in which the separator does not close pores at least within the thermal analysis measurement temperature range.
