PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for removing a foreign substance from a top roll capable of properly removing the foreign substance adherent to the top roll of a continuous hot dip metal plating line. SOLUTION: The device 10 for removing the foreign substance from the top roll includes: a polisher 11 pushed against a surface of the top roll 8 and moving in the width direction of the top roll 8 while rotating in order to remove the foreign substance from the top roll 8; a blade 12 disposed in a lower part of the polisher 11, having a width wider than that of the top roll 8, receiving and collecting the polishing powder arisen from the polisher 11 by contacting the tip of the blade 12 to the top roll 8; and a vacuum device 13 disposed side by side with the blade 12 and sucking and securing the polishing powder recovered by the blade 12.
