<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a conveyer belt and a conveyer belt maintaining basic physical properties such as hardness, fracture strength, fracture elongation and tear strength, and sufficiently reducing power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a conveyer belt contains a diene rubber, carbon black and a sulfur-based vulcanizing agent, wherein the carbon black has a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 25 to 45 m<SP>2</SP>/g and a dibutyl phthalate oil absorption of 130 to 165 cm<SP>3</SP>/100g, and the content of the carbon black is 8 to 50 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the diene rubber.
