<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element, capable of improving light extraction efficiency by reducing the sidelobe in light intensity distribution within a view angle from an observer side. <P>SOLUTION: The EL element includes a translucent substrate; an element part provided on one surface of the translucent substrate, the element part including an anode, a cathode, and a light emitting layer interposed between both; and a lens sheet provided on the surface opposite to the element part of the translucent substrate. The lens sheet includes a plurality of first lenses of a cylindrical shape having two inclined faces and an apex extending in a first direction; and a plurality of second lenses formed in a groove part between two opposed inclined faces of the adjacent first lenses, having two small inclined faces inclined oppositely to each other along the first direction and an apex extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
