PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide convenient and solid authentication. SOLUTION: An authentication system has: an input terminal that has an input means for authentication in which an input reference direction for a person to be authenticated is changeable; and an authentication device that can obtain input in the input terminal. The authentication device includes: a means for notifying the input reference direction in the input means to the person; and an authentication means that obtains the input into the input means and compares the input by the person with authentication information to be used in the authentication to authenticate the person.
