PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network system achieving an optimum security level even when a user does not have special knowledge. SOLUTION: A device D1 starts retrieving a security management server on a network using a server detection means when power is supplied. The device D1 acquires server attribute information of each detected security management server (a home server S1 and a back-up home server S2), and decides whether or not each security management server can be used by itself. The device D1 selects the security management server having the highest security level among the available security management servers as a target server using a server selection means, and uses it.
