PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing precision in a printer and a paper sheet printer. SOLUTION: This printer is equipped with a printing cylinder 31 that has pawl members 31a for pinching a chip of a printing sheet S and is rotatably supported, and an inkjet head 33 for forming an image in ejecting ink on the printing sheet S that is conveyed with the printing cylinder 31 while the chip is pinched between the pawl members 31a. The printer is further equipped with a sheet holding mechanism 40 that holds the printing sheet S passing through the position facing the inkjet head 33 in such a manner as to bring the printing sheet S into a close contact with the printing cylinder 31.
