PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing body wherein an excellent sound absorbing effect is obtained in a low frequency region, and a high average sound absorption coefficient is achieved. SOLUTION: The sound absorbing body includes: a frame body 2 including an aperture 2a; and a sound absorbing material 3 which covers the aperture 2a, wherein a thickness T2of the frame 2 is 5 to 20 mm, an inner diameter D of the aperture 2a is 70 to 160 mm, a thickness T1of the sound absorbing material 3 is 0.5 to 3 mm, a specific gravity G of the sound absorbing material 3 is 0.9 to 1.6, a storage elasticity modulus E' of the sound absorbing material 3 is 1×108to 1×109Pa, and tan δ of the sound absorbing material at 20 Hz and 15°C is 0.07 or more.
