PURPOSE: An external airbag for a vehicle is provided to prevent a vehicle from directly colliding with an obstacle by closing a vent hole when a cap is initially inflated. CONSTITUTION: An external airbag for a vehicle comprises a cushion(10), a flexible cap(20), and Velcro(12,22). The cushion is installed in the rear side of a bumper to cover the front surface of the bumper when the cushion is inflated. A vent hole(11) is formed in one side of the cushion. The flexible cap is attached on the inner surface of the cushion, and closes the vent hole. The flexible cap is bigger than the vent hole. The Velcro is applied to the surface of the flexible cap and the inner surface of the cushion.
