PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chuck which facilitates a writing lead to rotate on the axis. SOLUTION: This chuck 6 includes a plurality of finger pieces 6b having elasticity which expands to the outside, and boundary sections D1 and D2 between a lead receiving surface 33 with which the writing lead P comes into contact on the distal end sides of the finger pieces 6b, and joining surfaces 34a and 34b which are located on the external side of the lead receiving surface 33, and at the same time, on which the adjacent finger pieces 6b come into contact has a rounded chamfered shape. Therefore, the boundary sections D1 and D2 of each finger piece 6b are prevented from biting into the writing lead P under a state wherein the chuck 6 is holding the writing lead P, and the writing lead P is made easier to rotate with the axis L as the pivot.
