PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair wherein the shell of a backrest can suitably support the upper body of a seated person. SOLUTION: The chair is constituted so that a seat 4 is arranged above a support base part 2 supported by a leg part 1 and the backrest 5 is supported by the support base part 2 so as to be tilted backwards. The lower end part 51b of a back outer shell 51 configuring the backrest 5 is extended to the support base part 2, and the extended end 51b1 of the back outer shell 51 is attached to a spindle 17 for supporting the backrest 5 in the support base part 2.
