PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device capable of preventing a feeling of discomfort from giving without unnecessarily increasing output when a reflection factor is temporarily reduced and attaining comfortable lighting. SOLUTION: The lighting device 10 includes a lighting-up circuit 18 capable of controlling light-dimming of light output of a light source 17, an illuminance detection section 14 for detecting reflected light from an illuminated surface by the light source 17 and converting the reflected light into voltage, and a control section 31 having an automatic light-dimming function for adjusting light output of a lighting fixture 11 so as to make a detected value output by the illuminance detection section 14 nearly coincide with a target value corresponding to desired brightness. Light-dimming control of the light output is carried out by receiving a light-dimming signal output from the control section 31, a limit value is set on the light-dimming signal output from the control section 31, and the lighting device can be operated under a light-dimming level corresponding to the desired brightness.
