<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus which can form printed matters highly credible in printed dates and times, and to provide a control method of the printing apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A date label with date information printed thereon is formed by the tape printing apparatus 1 which includes an RTC 140 that measures dates and times, a keyboard 3 for inputting passwords and editing dates and times, and a printing head 7 that prints the date information, as the measurement result of the RTC 140, to a printing tape. In addition to the date information, a special character printed to only the date label, optional information inputted by a user, and intrinsic information of the tape printing apparatus 1 (model name and serial number of the tape printing apparatus 1) are printed to the date label.
