PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit combustion substantially evenly in a combustion chamber in a spark ignition internal combustion engine for igniting a fuel/air mixture by making spark discharge generated by an ignition plug react with plasma produced in the combustion chamber. SOLUTION: In the spark ignition internal combustion engine for igniting a fuel/air mixture by making spark discharge generated by an ignition plug react with plasma produced in a combustion chamber, an antenna and the ignition plug are arranged so that the distance between the central axis of the combustion chamber and the antenna is shorter than the distance between the central axis of the combustion chamber and a spark discharge part of the ignition plug with the antenna for producing the plasma and the spark discharge part of the ignition plug exposed in the combustion chamber.
