<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To seal a gap between an opening and closing lid and a water tank opening end under a circumferentially uniform aspect with a durable packing under the condition where the opening and closing lid and the opening end of a rotary drum are inclined in different angles. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A rotary drum 2 is arranged in a water tank 3 such that a rotary shaft 20 is inclined downward from a horizontal direction from an opening front face side toward a back face side which is a bottom part. Laundry is housed in the rotary drum 2, and the rotary drum is driven by a motor 6, thereby at least one of the washing step, the rinsing step, and the dehydrating step can be carried out. The opening and closing lid 5 of a put in and out opening 12 of laundry is arranged so as to be inclined in a different angle from that of the opening end 2a perpendicular to the rotary shaft 20 in a closed state. The opening end 3a of the water tank 3 faces the opening and closing lid 5 protruding forward beyond the opening end 2a of the rotary drum 2 and closed in substantially parallel inclination to the opening and closing lid. The gap between the opening and closing lid 5 and the opening end 3a of the water tank 3 is sealed with an annular window packing 13 whose front and back end 13a and 13b is substantially parallel, thereby the above purpose is attained.
