PURPOSE: A roundabout way guide device and a method thereof are provided to determine congestion according to the kind of the road by applying a limit road and an average driving speed. CONSTITUTION: A roundabout way guide device comprises a vehicle speed detection part(100), a speed information data base(200), a distance measure part(300), a congestion discriminating unit(400), and a route searching unit(500). The speed information data base stores limit speed and average driving speed according to the kind of the road. If the detected vehicle speed is lower than the limit speed or the average driving speed or is higher than certain score of vehicle speed, the distance measure part measures the translation distance of the vehicle and the congestion discriminating unit compares the measured translation distance with the critical distance. If the translation distance is higher than critical distance, the congestion discriminating unit produces congestion alarm signals by determining congestion. The route searching unit receives congestion alarming signals of the congestion discriminating unit and searches a route again.
