<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively solve an issue of a crack to be easily caused on an electrolyte film etc. caused by gaps made among a protective film, a catalyst layer, and an electrolyte film, in a fuel cell equipped with: an electrode with the protective film between a gas diffusion layer and an electrolyte film in a fringe area of the catalyst layer, with the end portion of the protective film laminated (lapped) over the catalyst layer; and a gasket formed by injection molding in the fringe area of the electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is configured such that: the protective films 7A, 7B are intercalated between the fringe exposed area of an electrolyte film 1 not covered with the catalyst layers 2, 3 and the gas diffusion layer 5, 6; the end portions of the protective films 7A, 7B are laminated on the catalyst layers 2, 3; and resin used to form a gasket 9 is impregnated in a portion of a gas permeation layer (the gas diffusion layers 5, 6) surrounding the protective films 7A, 7B and also is in contact with at least parts of the catalyst layers 2, 3 contacting the protective films 7A, 7B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
