PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: when printing a document by embedding a watermark therein, various inconveniences arise depending on whether to count the number of printed sheets as color printing or as monochrome printing. SOLUTION: The count control method for the image forming apparatus equipped with a watermark printing function for embedding a watermark comprising specified character or pattern in an image of the document inconspicuously includes: a step of discriminating a color mode of the document to be printed and the color of the watermark; and a step of counting the number of printed sheets as monochrome printing when the color mode of the document is discriminated as monochrome and the color of the watermark is discriminated as colored in the discriminating step when printout is performed in color if the document is colored, and printout is performed in monochrome if the document is monochrome.
