PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for easily specifying the cause of the rotational abnormality of a photoreceptor drum. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: a rotational state detecting part 36 detecting data on the rotational state of an image carrier 71; a tracking analysis part 35 analyzing the data on the rotational state detected by the rotational state detecting part 36, to obtain tracking analysis data; and a rotational abnormality determining part 31c determining the cause of the rotational abnormality in the image carrier 71 by the tracking analysis data obtained by the tracking analysis part 35.
