PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for an organic EL display device and an organic EL display device using the same which prevent deterioration of an organic EL layer due to moisture and oxygen and have excellent temporal stability. SOLUTION: The color filter for an organic EL display device has a transparent substrate, a colored layer formed in a display area on the transparent substrate, and a barrier plate formed in a non-display area on the transparent substrate to surround the display area. The barrier plate has a height to keep air tightness between the color filter for the organic EL display device and an organic EL element side substrate when the organic EL element side substrate is stuck to the color filter for an organic EL display device facing each other, and has gas barrier properties.
