PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate machining, and to promote the recirculation of exhaust gas by reducing the flow resistance of the exhaust gas in an exhaust gas recirculation device configured by forming a recessed groove 17 at one of both left and right side surfaces 4 of a cylinder head 1 in which an exhaust port 3 from a combustion chamber 2 is opened in such a manner that one end of the recessed groove communicates with an exhaust gas recirculation passage 15 to an intake system and also forming the recessed groove so as to be closed by an exhaust manifold 10 joined to the one side surface with a gasket 13 interposed between. SOLUTION: The other end 17b of the recessed groove 17 and the intermediate portion of the exhaust port 3 are made to communicate with each other through a drill hole 21 by being drilled in the direction from the inside of the recessed groove 17 toward the combustion chamber 2.
