<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush for a DC rotary electric machine, which further enhances the efficiency of exchange work. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The brush 1 disposed in contact with a commutator of the DC rotary electric machine includes: an exit side portion 6a positioned on an exit side in the rotation direction of the commutator; and an entrance side portion 6b positioned on an entrance side in the rotation direction of the commutator. The content of a good conductor in the exit side portion 6a is lower than that in the entrance side portions 6b, and a width Wa in the circumferential direction of the commutator of the exit side portion 6a is increased from the inside in the radial direction of the commutator toward the outside.
