摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping force generator which estimates damping force characteristics of a viscous coupling to generate an initial damping force. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A power supply 220 supplies power to a DC motor 210 to cause a case 12 and a shaft 20 to rotate relatively in a first rotation direction which changes the relative distance between a wheel and a vehicle body. A first estimating means estimates a first drag force acting on the DC motor 210 when power is supplied from the power supply 220 to the DC motor 210 to change the relative distance between the wheel and the vehicle body. A second estimating means estimates a second drag force generated at the DC motor 210 when the case 12 and the shaft 20 rotate relatively in a second direction after power supply is stopped.
