PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing an image are provided to display a caption in a desirable size and a user-preferred location by using DDS(Display Definition Segment), thereby providing a user with a more appropriate display environment. CONSTITUTION: An image processing apparatus(100) includes an image processing unit(108), a user input unit(102), a reception unit(104), and a control unit(106). The image processing unit processes and displays an image and a caption, and the user input unit receives the control information and the caption from a user. The reception unit receives a broadcasting signal. The control unit detects, from the broadcasting signal, the caption reference information related to the display of the caption and controls the image processing to display the caption by combining the detected caption reference information with the control information of the inputted caption. |
