<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a totally enclosed rotary electric motor that efficiently cools its inside and also reduces noise. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rotary electric motor includes: a stator core 1; a case, which has first brackets 8 and 9 and second brackets 12 and 13 fixed to the sides of both axial ends of the stator core and is sealed; the first bearing 7, which is attached to the first bracket on the side of one end of the stator core; the second bearing 11, which is attached to the second bracket on the side of the other end of the stator core; a rotating shaft 4, which is rotatably supported by the first and second bearings and extends within the case; a rotor core 2, which is attached to the rotating shaft and is provided on the inner perimetrical side of the stator core; a ventilating fan 5, which is attached, between the first bearing and the rotor core, to the rotating shaft and can rotate in a body with the rotating shaft; an intake port 8a, which is formed, in the vicinity of the first bearing, in the first bracket; and an outside air current path 15, which leads outside air sucked from the intake port to the side of the second bearing from the side of the first bearing by the rotation of the ventilating fan.
