The invention can be used for producing batteries based on primary and secondary electrochemical current sources, in particular batteries based on fuel and storage cells or on solar and storage cells. The inventive combined direct current supply comprises unit secondary electrochemical power supplies which are electrically connected according to a parallel or series-parallel circuits and to each of which a primary direct current supply is connected with the aid of a switching device via an electronic converter. A control unit controls the voltage of each secondary electrochemical power supply and switches off the corresponding primary direct current supply when the secondary electrochemical power supply is charged to a specified voltage level or disconnects the combined direct current supply from a load when the secondary electrochemical power supply is discharged above the specified voltage level.
