A nasal protectant, for insertion into the nasal cavity of a user, is disclosed. The protectant is in the form of a pouch filled with spherical pelletized silica gel, where the silica gel forms a tortuous pathway through which the inspired air must pass. During passage of the air through the silica gel, airborne contaminants are removed from the air.
