PURPOSE: Optimal bias power setting apparatus and method are provided to prevent the degradation of a data recording quality by setting the bias power when the jitter component of a measured write pulse is minimized to an optimal bias power. CONSTITUTION: An optimal bias power setting method comprises the following steps. In the state that a write power, a erasure power and a bias power is respectively set. The jitter component of the write pulse is measured while the bias power is varied. The bias power when the jitter component of the write pulse measured is minimized is set to an optimal bias power. |
