A straw holder 200 for supporting a drinking straw 9 in the mouth of a bottle 2, the bottle 2 having at least one of a thread ramp 8 or a flange adjacent to the mouth, the straw holder 200 being formed of a flexible sheet material and comprising a straw support portion 220 dimensioned for placement above the mouth of a bottle 2 and comprising an aperture formed by at least one slit to receive a straw 9 there through in an interference fit and to vertically support the straw 9 with respect to the support portion, and a bottle 2 retaining portion surrounding the support portion and having at least two edge portions facing the support portion 220 and spaced apart so that the bottle 2 retaining portion fits over the mouth of the bottle 2 for engaging the at least one of the thread ramp 8 or the flange on the bottle 2 adjacent to the mouth, the support portion 220 being attached to the bottle 2 retaining portion by at least one connection located between the edge portions, the straw support portion 220 being urged against a top of the mouth when the edge portions engage the at least one of the thread ramp 8 and the flange to support the straw 9 relative to the bottle 2, the edge portions each being one of (i) a curved edge portion facing the aperture concavely with at least one flared edge portion on at least one side of the curved edge portion, or (ii) a rectilinear edge portion.
