<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reading method and a bar code reading device for improving reading precision even when similar patterns of bar codes with a plurality of types of specifications coexist. <P>SOLUTION: When there is possibility that the code pattern of a portion of a first bar code B<SB>1</SB>may be read as a second bar code B<SB>2</SB>, reading is carried out by applying a reading algorithm with second specification to a contrast pattern column, and whether or not a bar region for decision exists in at least one of both end sides of the contrast pattern column is decided. Then, when it is decided that the bar region for decision exists, or that any bar region for decision does not exist, and when a contrast degree differenceΔL as a difference between contrast degrees L<SB>2</SB>and L<SB>3</SB>of at least one of one end side region P<SB>2</SB>and the other end side region P<SB>3</SB>and a contrast degree L<SB>1</SB>of the bar code region P<SB>1</SB>is turned to be equal to or more than a prescribed thresholdΔLp, it is decided that the bar code is RRS_Limited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
