PAPER SHEET FEEDING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-conveying type paper sheet feeding device capable of correctly detecting the upper surface of a paper sheet bundle without damaging paper sheets stored therein.

SOLUTION: The paper sheet feeding device includes: an upper surface detection unit 51 for detecting the position of the upper surface of a paper sheet bundle with a non-contact type sensor; air feeding units 52, 54 for feeding air to upper side surfaces of the paper sheet bundle; and a paper sheet conveying unit 50 which has a suction unit, sucks paper sheets one by one from the highest paper sheet of the paper sheet bundle stacked on a paper feed tray through sucking air with the suction unit, and conveys the sucked paper sheet. The paper feed device performs the control so as to detect the position of the upper surface of the paper sheet bundle with an upper surface detection unit 51 after stopping the air feed to the paper sheet bundle with the air feeding units 52, 54.
