<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet excellent in position detection accuracy, and a position detection device using the magnet, easy to manufacture with necessity of accuracy of positioning done away with in a bonding work of the magnet with iron yokes. <P>SOLUTION: In the position detection device provided with a plurality of magnetic detecting parts arranged on a face opposed to a movement face of the magnet and the magnet moving in linking with a position detection target part on a face opposed to the magnetic detecting part, the magnet 6 is of a plate shape as a whole with a platy iron yoke 9 arranged on a rear face, and with a side-face periphery 6a, a' formed in a magnetic pole opposite to that of a center part 6b.
