PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiping tape capable of cleaning a surface of a magnetic disk while suppressing contamination of the magnetic disk caused by waste thread originating from the wiping tape and to provide a wiping method. SOLUTION: The wiping tape 1 used for a wiping process of the magnetic disk includes a support body 2 having some of a non-woven fabric, a woven fabric or a knitted fabric as a main material and a coating layer 3 coating the support body 2.
