PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate fabric for an adhesive tape, without posing any problems in its preparation-weaving process, capable of being easily passed through the processes, further on using it for the adhesive tape, excellent in hand-cutting property and showing a clear cut end after the cutting. SOLUTION: This substrate fabric for the adhesive tape comprising a woven fabric is obtained by using a multi-filament comprising a copolyester as a warp yarn. The copolyester is provided by having its main repeat unit as ethylene terephthalate, containing 2.0 to 3.0 mol% metal sulfonate group-containing isophthalic acid component based on the amount of acid components of whole of the polyester, containing ≥1.5 wt.% and <4.0 wt.% polyalkylene glycol having 150 to 600 average molecular weight based on the whole amount of the polyester, having 4.5 to 6.5 mol% diethylene glycol content based on the amount of glycol components and having 20 to 30 equivalent ton terminal carboxyl group concentration.
