<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elevator control device capable of sensing an earthquake and performing an earthquake-time controlling operation more properly, even when an electronic earthquake sensor is decided to be out of order. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This elevator control device comprises an earthquake-time controlling operation device for controlling an earthquake-time controlling operation when an earthquake occurs, a first earthquake sensing means of an electronic circuit type having a CPU for sensing an earthquake by a computer control, a second earthquake sensing means of a mechanical type for sensing an earthquake by a mechanical constitution independently from the first earthquake sensing means, and a failure detection means for detecting a failure of the first earthquake sensing means. The earthquake-time controlling operation device controls the earthquake-time controlling operation based on the earthquake sensing results of the first earthquake sensing means in a normal time, and controls the earthquake-time controlling operation based on the earthquake sensing results of the second earthquake sensing means when a failure of the first earthquake sensing means is detected with the failure detection means.
