PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein improvement (enhancement) of luminance and improvement of driving voltage (low driving voltage) are made attainable and to provide an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device 2 including: first and second substrates AR and CF with a liquid crystal layer LC interposed therebetween; a first electrode 10 formed on the liquid crystal layer LC side of the first substrate AR and having linear portions 10a; a second electrode 48 having linear portions 48a formed along the linear portions 10a of the first electrode 10 and adjacent to the linear portions 10a of the first electrode 10 with a gap in plan view; and a third electrode 60 formed on the liquid crystal layer LC side of the second substrate CF and having linear portions 60a overlapping with the linear portions 48a of the second electrode 48 in plan view, wherein electric fields having different directions are generated between the first electrode 10 and the second electrode 48 and between the first electrode 10 and the third electrode 60.
