PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve size reduction of a power transmitting device while allowing the power transmitting device to sufficiently exert a function as a continuously variable transmission (CVT). SOLUTION: A power transmitting device is configured to eliminate a cancel chamber in a secondary cylinder of a CVT. A hydraulic circuit is configured such that line pressure PL is made to directly act on the secondary cylinder and the line pressure PL is made to flow out from or into a primary cylinder via a control valve. When the vehicle speed V is less than a prescribed vehicle speed Vref, an operation line A for achieving excellent fuel consumption is used to set a lower-limit rpm Nmin. When the vehicle speed V is equal to or more than the prescribed vehicle speed Vref, the lower-limit rpm is set from torque on an output shaft on the basis of required secondary pressure Pss. The lower-limit rpm Nmin of an input shaft is set by using an operation line B, further shifted to the high-rpm side than the operation line A, so as to set the gear ratio that can be achieved from the line pressure PL.
