<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflater having a compact and lightweight structure with high safety at storage and transportation. <P>SOLUTION: The inflater 1 includes: a cylinder 2 filled with a high pressure gas at the inside and having a gas release port 2a on an axis; a rupture disc 3 for closing the gas release port; an igniter 4; a flowing out passage 5 for forming a route of the high pressure gas; and an adapter 9 detachably mounted to a distal end of the flowing out passage 5. The flowing out passage 5 is a cylinder extended in an axial direction relative to the cylinder 2, opened in an axial direction, and having one or both of a recess and a projection, and further has a male screw part 8 having a smaller outer diameter than the maximum outer diameter of the cylinder at a distal end part. The adapter 9 has a nut part 9a having a female screw part at an inner side and a hollow dome part 9b, and has a plurality of holes 9c penetrated to a direction perpendicular to the axis in the dome part 9b in symmetrical to each other.
