PURPOSE: A pulverized coal burner is provided to stabilize a flame, and to reduce the discharged amount of nitrogen oxide by linearly changing the inflow of air. CONSTITUTION: A pulverized coal burner comprises an air inlet(57) and a damper(58). The air inlet is located in the entrance of a wind box(55), and is composed of multiple trapezoid-shaped first slots. The damper is located in the top of the air inlet, and controls the passage area of the first slots by being slid in a vertical direction of the parallel sides of the slots. When the damper is slid, the passage area is increased.
