PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical coupling member that can attain high accuracy, low loss and reduced cost, while improving the coupling efficiency in an optical coupling part of an optical connector. SOLUTION: The optical coupling member 1 is constituted of an optical waveguide core 4 and a cladding 5. The optical coupling member 1 is manufactured through: a process of molding the cladding 5, having a core grooved base member 2 which is integrally formed with convex lenses 6 at both ends and which is provided with an opening groove 8 for opening upward between these convex lenses 6 and with a core groove 9 continuous to each convex lens 6 in the bottom face of the opening groove 8, and having a groove inserting member 3 which is insertable into the opening groove 8; a process of filling core resin 13 in the core groove 9; and a process of inserting the groove-inserting member 3 into the opening groove 8, in a manner of covering the core groove 9, hardening the core resin 13, while pressurizing so that no core resin 13 remains at least immediately around the core groove 9, and molding the optical waveguide core 4, as well as, forming the cladding 5 that is stuck closely to the periphery of the optical waveguide core 4.
