<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner improving its usability as an extension tube is laid down without deteriorating its usability as the extension tube is raised to be diagonal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a suction mouth member having a suction head and a connection tube projecting from the head connected to each other by a universal joint part. The suction mouth member is connected to the cleaner body through an extension tube 51 connected to the connection tube, a dust suction hose 5 connected to the cleaner body, and a grip pipe 21 connecting the suction hose 5 to the extension tube 51. A grip handle 31 is a separate member from a grip pipe 21. The grip handle 31 is mounted to be turnable around the grip pipe 21. The vacuum cleaner includes a handle lock means 41. The grip handle 31 is held to be disposed on the upper side of the grip pipe 21 by means of the lock means 41.
